What are your tips for looking after tights?

I've heard that the best way to make sure that you look after your tights is do wash them on delicate or even hand wash them but I'm sortin through some of my old tights and I definitely haven't done that in the past. ( Trying to now though) Have you got any tips for how to care for tights or even how you can use old pairs? Thanks 😀
