Help. tips for what to wear when you have an overhang (apron)

I'm an apple shape and gained weight this year. now my stomach hangs over in what i've heard referred to as an 'apron'. It's the shape of a W and I've never had this before. I always had a big belly but this is new. I hate it. I can never find what to wear any more and nothing compliments by body. I'm so self conscious of it. I am trying to lose weight but I have a family event coming up and don't know what to wear. Any tips?

I would recommend following some plus size influencers like @shechonky and @roseybeeme and @whatlauraloves that have similar body types. WLL has a low hanging belly and she helped me feel more confident about mine.

For the event, maybe try a wrap dress or skater style that skims over your belly, as I know confidence doesn't come over night.

You are beautiful remember that!

for the event - Maxi dresses and high waisted thigh chafing shorts that provide support.

Also any high waisted jean and long layered sweaters for more casual wear.

I totally get this as I have the same. I love wearing a pair of anti-chafe shorts under dresses as not only deals with the thigh chafing but also give me a little bit of support. I get mine from Snag Tights. High-wais ted leggings and jeans are also great for this and I normally pair them with a tunic.

For the event do you like wearing dresses? If so, a skater style, fit and flare or wrap style would look amazing on you. Or how about a pair of palazzo or wide-legged trousers and a blouse/top? 😀

I have that too and I recently found this underwear/faja that legit makes it look like I got no overhang definitely size up though at least by 1 size

I think layering helps a lot! long cardigans and coats can be very flattering on apple shapes.

thank you. I have been feeling very anxious about it. Thanks @tiffanyt I will get some of those shaping briefs. I have not found any in my size yet (3x) but it seems a good solution.

a wrap dress could be cute, I will see what I can find.
