We all know that plus size clothing is a niche market (even though 70% are plus….sure that makes sense) and maternity clothing is also a niche. So plus size maternity clothing? Well that's super niche.
That’s why, in this blog we want to dig deep into the world of plus size maternity clothing and show you some of the best places to shop. For more on our series on plus size maternity check out our posts where we shine a light on maternity dresses plus ask what to wear to your baby shower.

When to start wearing maternity clothes.
Whilst you might notice that your ‘straight sized’ friends are reaching for maternity clothes and their tummies expanding at the merest hint of having a baby on board, for us plus size peeps, it can take much longer for us to have a visible bump.
This can mean that you can keep wearing your normal clothes for a lot longer.
When you start wearing maternity clothes totally depends on your pregnancy. For some this can be 10-12 weeks or even in the second trimester.
The timeframe can also really depend on the styles of clothes that you like to wear. If you literally live in your jeans then you may find that buttoning up the fly starts to become uncomfortable a couple of months in telling you that its time to invest in a pair of maternity jeans or even a belly band. But if yoga pants and maxi dresses that have a much more relaxed/loose fit are more your vibe, it may be a whole lot longer into your pregnancy before you reach for your maternity styles.
