If there’s one thing that we’ve learned about the plus-size community, it’s community. For lots of us growing up, we may have been the only fat person in our group of friends and it was honestly kind of isolating.
Who can relate to being the one awkwardly hanging around the jewelry section on group shopping trips because literally nothing else fit or maybe you couldn’t take part in an activity because of weight restrictions.
So when we find our tribe it’s really quite magical you know. That’s why we absolutely love curvy conventions like the Curvy Con and The Curve Fashion Festival. The only problem: geography.
With the whole lockdown thing, our lives have gone so much more online and one of the best things about that is the advent of the plus size memberships. These communities are all about accepting our bodies, building confidence and finding a sisterhood.

The Body Positive
‘Listen to your body, learn and thrive’ that’s the mantra of The Body Positive who wants to eradicate the harmful impacts of negative body image like anxiety, depression, disordered eating, self-doubt, self-harm, abuse and even suicide. We love how the courses on offer are not just for individuals but for teachers, social workers and practitioners too because how great would the world be if fatphobia just wasn’t a thing!
