Baraka Interview

In addition to sharing this fabulous collection, we also got to ask Baraka a couple questions.

How did you originally get into modeling back in 2010?
I always wanted to model from watching America’s Next Top Model! But, I was walking in J.C. Penny and was stopped by a recruiter, She complimented how beautiful my face was, and asked did I ever wanted to model? After that I went to modeling school, and the rest became history!

When did you know you were going to work with fashion as a career?
I knew when was a child, I just didn’t know how to approach it or how to get started! It started with the lady from Neil Hamil Agency, getting best dressed in high school to directing Fashion Shows. I sleep, breath, eat fashion!

When and why did you create your blog SheSimplyChic?
I originally started my blog because my college peers told me I should show my style more. I looked for a sign and started, now I do it for not only personal preferences but for women around the world and women who look like me! To see a woman who is daring and not afraid to step out on faith, especially in fashion!

How did you get into influencing and what advice would you give to someone who is interested in pursuing that?
Once I started my blog back in 2016, I didn’t know “Influencing” was a market. I started my business because fashion is something i genuinely love. My advice to anybody who wants to influence, in anything you do: First love what you influence, second consistency, I post three times a week again! It’s hard, and life happens, but try your best! Third advice is make sure your pictures are good quality, your hashtags are in range! Trust me people are looking.

What is your #1 style tip that you think everyone should know?
My number one Style tip is always wear the least color in your outfit to bring forward in your look! It will make your outfit pop each time!

What trend are you loving right now? What trend are you ready to see leave?
I am loving the faux leather look, also loving the new animal prints we are coming out with! The trend I’m ready to leave shiny satin.

I love ELOQUII, ASOS Curve, Fashion to Figure! Top three!

Do you have any photo tips for taking outfit shots?
Have fun! I know I look serious in my pictures, but i love a vogue look!
